This is a good move for Indiana but an interesting one for Carlisle. While the Pacers are a solid team with some nice pieces its pretty difficult to see a true path to serious contention there. Meanwhile, he is walking away from the opportunity to coach a young foundational superstar in a bigger market who is basically just on the precipice of his prime.
While its entirely possible that Carlisle just wanted a change of scenery and isn’t as concerned about winning at this stage of his career, it also makes you kind of wonder exactly what is going on behind the scenes in Dallas and if the situation might be more toxic than we realized.

The Dallas situation seems like it was really toxic. Honestly i’m pretty surprised Carlisle went back to Indy. I thought he’d wait to see if that Bucks job opens up at all. but who knows.

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted in here, but as a Pacers fan I love the Carlisle hire.

Granted we don’t have the Superstar that Luka Doncic is, from top to bottom we have a far better roster.

Myles Turner & Domantas Sabonis is superior to any Porzingis & Kleber/Powell/Marjanovic duo that the Mavericks ran. TJ Warren is a superior talent to THJ who has played great in Dallas & has the actual size required of a SF at 6’8. Levert & Brogdon aren’t Luka Doncic, but between those 2 & Domantas Sabonis is plenty of playmaking. I’m also not discounting us trying to package the 13th Pick, Goga Bitadze, Aaron Holiday + Jeremy Lamb to go get a really good 6th man to round this roster out as something insanely deep.
