I don’t like Isaac Okoro, I also really don’t like Hachimura. The Wizards still can’t defend anything at all. I do like Isaac Bonga as well but I don’t think should deter them from drafting a 3. I would like Vassell here but he’s not here. My selection is Patrick Williams. Bonga has crazy advanced numbers, Okoro doesn’t, in fact i think there’s a chance Okoro is a worse version of Bonga, and Wizards can’t play defense. Williams can play the 3 at times but this is worst case scenario for DC.

    Jalen Smith

Caling it now hes gonna go alot higher then we are currently projecting. Scouts are comparing him to Jalen Jackson, Myles Turner, Serge Ibaka. Hes the perfect fit for Washington. They have Wall and Beal locked in for the next 3 seasons. Last two years they drafted SF/PF’s with Troy Brown and Rui Hachimora that both struggle with shooting. They need to bring in more shooting and defense. Jalen Smith can play 4/5 positions and adds a different element then any of the young players on that team.

He can play with or fill in with their young Center Thomas Bryant who they are heavily invested in. Can also play with or sub for Hachimora or Troy Brown. I think he has rised up draft boards to that late lottery position to the 11 to 14 range so a trade down is out of question if hes the guy Washington wants. I personally think they pick him ahead of Okongwu if both are available.

Man, that is bold. I really like Jalen Smith but not THAT high. Jalen Smith is probably a better version of Thomas Bryant, but he is skinny. I’d rather have Okongwu for DC than Smith but it’s your opinion and I think it’s valid but that’s bold.

I dont see him replacing Bryant. Bryants gonna be a starter for a longtime. I think he plays with him. I see him getting mocked constantly at 14or 16 for Boston and Portland. San Antonio badly needs some size. Why not Washington? Anyways I do think teams believe he can do what Jaren Jackson does with Memphis. Personally I think he is too slight and needs to adjust to the leagues physicality like Jonathan Isaac did.

Btw about Vassell, whats going on with that boys jumper?

I think probably his trainer? I’m not super worried about it but I would be lying if I said I’m comfortable taking him. Fultz had that issue is his shoulder but Vassell by all accounts is a gym rat and I think he will work it out. My concern with playing Smith and Bryant together is Bryant isn’t a good defender and both are as skinny as noodles. I think Bryant is a backup center personally. If he was going to be a solid starter then why does Scott Brooks hate playing him in favor of 51 year old Ian Mahimni? Because he plays defense.

      ohcanada u could be right….
jalen smith has some flaws, like he can improve on his passing skills and overall feel for the game….but he fits today’s game perfectly, a rim protecting, rebounding big that has 3 point potential….. it wouldnt surprise me at all if washington picks him…
..i’ve read that he’s 1 of the players whose stock has rose……he would also be good for alot of teams in the late lottery like the spurs, suns, celtics and the pelicans ….i live in miami and ive heard stories about how much pat riley likes him…

yeah, his stock has risen, mainly because I think the media has finally caught up to him. Kinda similar to Patrick Williams. It never made sense to me why he was so low. I have him in the mid teens mainly because I do have concerns defensively, but it doesn’t surprise me that Miami would love him. Rumor is that they are after Zeke Nnaji too, who I think he is a worse version of Smith.

Pick has to be Aaron Nesmith. Wizards need a few things, but another negative floor spacer is definitely not one of them. Wizards have a limited time to win with their core of beal and wall reaching 30s ( wall is). They would be idiotic to miss on the BEST SHOOTER in the draft who can take pressure off of wall and beal to operate in single coverage and not be double teamed. Nesmith will get lots of open looks starting with beal and wall, and Beal is really their ONLY GOOD SHOOTER in their starting line up. Nesmith is also a decent to good defender, but is limited creating for himself. HE IS THE PERECT third option for wall and beal.

I CANT POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WOULDNT TRADE NESMITH HERE??? MAKES NO SENSE.

They have Bertans. It’s also worth noting we don’t know how he will handle cold spells either. We know that was a hot streak. If it isn’t then wow, but nobody averages 52% from 3. This also might sound surprising I have him as the 4th best shooter mainly because of it. He’s a better prospect than the people I have in the top 3, (Joe, Bane, and Merrill), but I understand the point on it, but they need defense more man.

I said no other shooter in their starting lineup; Bertans is their 6th man. They need a sf. They do need defense but they need a shooter more and they only have a 4-5 year window to capitalize on wall and Beal. There is NO TiME to wait for okoro to maybe develop a shot. Nesmith is the obvious pick, they need another shooter, and they need a sf, more than they need D.. wall will make up for some of their lack of D.

I’m going with Okoro. Washington was one of the worst defensive teams in the league last season and Okoro at least has the potential to be elite on that end. Whether the offensive skills will progress is to be determined. Williams would be a decent pick here too but I just see too much overlap in the skill sets between him and rui.

I’m gonna say they go with Okoro. Can add defense to a lineup that already has offense with Beal and Wall coming back.

I’d go Patrick Williams as he has elite defensive potential and maybe offers a few more options than Okoro who would be my next choice.
If you want a real wildcard then someone like Aleksej Pokusevski who is one of the youngest guys in the draft does a great workout and could be taken in this range.
