Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantBest: Clyde Drexler (1983)
There have been some very good players taken at 14 throughout the years, but “The Glide” clearly stands out as the best. Although he didn’t win a championship until he was traded to Houston in 1995, his best individual seasons came with Portland. Drexler was a raw athlete when drafted, but quickly developed into one of the best all-around players in the league, and remained so for the better part of his 15 year career.
Other contenders: Hal Greer (1958) Maurice Lucas (1974) Dan Marjerle (1988) Tim Hardaway (1989) Peja Stojakovic (1996) Bam Adebayo (2017)Worst: Scott Haskin (1993)
There have been many questionable picks at 14 over the years, and for some reason a lot seemed to occur between 1990-2000. It was a close call but I deemed Haskin to be the worst of the bunch. Haskin was an accomplished big in college with a decent skill set, but back issues derailed his NBA career before it ever got started. He lasted only 27 games. In retrospect, you also could definitely say Minnesota would like a redo on Shabazz Muhammad in 2013 (one pick before Giannis Antetekoumbo).
Other contenders: Shabazz Muhammad (2013) Mateen Cleaves (2000) William Avery (1999) Yinka Dare (1994) Rich King (1991) Alfrederick Hughes 1985)0 -

dmo21ParticipantBest: I’m picking Greer over Drexler as he had made more All NBA teams and won an MVP. Plus, he did all his work with his draft team.
Worst: Gonna go with Shabazz here. Was hyped up coming out of high school, had college eligibility issues, didn’t live up to expectations and had that age lying scandal before being drafted. Just to top it off, the next pick was Giannis. That’s a tough one for Minny.
