thetruth87ParticipantIt’s been well documented that the Knicks are interested in aqcuiring a PG in the upcoming draft. Figuring they will be picking around the top 5 who do you think would be the ideal PG to share a backcourt with RJ Barrett?
Qualifications wanted:
-Can excel with doing a majority of the ball handling, or being off the ball when RJ is being crafty (his best trait IMO).
-Can space the floor with their shooting.
-Can create for themself and others.
-Is an above average perimeter defender. The likely candidates:
-Lamelo Ball: Obviously Ball seems like the most touted of all the options, but would his lack of a consistent jumper mesh with a poor shooting Barrett?-Cole Anthony: Anthony’s shooting numbers and inefficiency scare the heck out of me.
-Tyrese Haliburton: Haliburton seems like a decent fit, but his 180 lb frame seems like it could lead to a lot of durability issues, and he could have a hard time defending stronger players at the next level.
-Nico Mannion: Mannion is having an underwhelming season at Arizona so far.
-Theo Maledon: I don’t really know too much about Maledon.
So what do you guys think? Who out of these guys (or feel free to add your own choice) would be the best fit to share a backcourt with RJ Barrett going forward?

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantIf your looking for chemistry a cheap back up.. his bff Andrew Nehmbard as a 2nd round pick or even just pick up undrafted. To start? Probably Lamelo

OhCanada-ParticipantIts New York. They will pick Ball just like LA did. $$$$$MoNIEeees$$$$
That being said I’d keep an eye on Killian Hayes. He’s the only guard in this draft that can do everything.

The GoatParticipantThey need to make decisions and/or move DSJ, Ntilikina and about 200 power forwards. I’m not sure just picking another young guard that needs time (the NY fans won’t give them) is a recipe for success. They need a high profile, volume scorer, by hook or by crook. Barrett can play 3 if the best option available is a 2.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantFollowing Hayes from a distance has me intrigued because of his production when forced to step up his role in the offense when one of the other guards on his team (Zoran Dragic or Tyler Harvey) have been out of the lineup. I don’t think he, or any of the point options, are ideal for the Knicks. They might be the team to make a push for VanVleet in free agency as they would be minimally harmed by paying $1.25 on the dollar to get him given their cleaned out roster, and would stabilize their backcourt. I could also see them packaging their non-guaranteed contracts with their first rounder to get a younger veteran.

armchairgmParticipantIf Lamelo Ball is available when they pick that is who the Knicks should take.

xdanish020ParticipantBall
Cole Anthony is Kyrie 2.0 IMO, he doesn’t make anyone better and is selfish on the court in my eyes.

HitsterParticipantI think of the PG’s in this year’s draft that Ball has the most upside but would a pressure place like MSG and the distractions of NY be ideal for someone who I could see potentially getting distracted?
Mannion is the better playmaker than Anthony but could Anthony be the Knicks version of Tre Young?
The international lads, I’ve not seen a lot of so cannot comment on them.
I think the Knicks need to draft BPA and if he’s not a PG then look for a rock solid veteran creative PG. Mike Conley has a player option which he is unlikely to decline but a high character, veteran leadership presence like him is what NY needs if they don’t draft a PG,0 -
