Seems everyone is viewing the Pels as a team looking to trade vets for young players and picks this coming deadline but with the peices they have already in place I feel they should be looking to bring in another top tier talent to compliment their main core. Holiday, Ingram and WIlliamson are all capable at of competing with the top players in the league. Ingram has proved he can be a top 10 scorer and Williamson when he comes back healthy can be dominant force. If you look beyond that the team has a ton of useful veterans on tradeable deals. Moore and Favors are both expiring and Redick is a 2 year deal. They also have tons of young guys and picks NAW, Hayes, Hart (who needs more minutes tbh) and even Ball would be attractive peices for alot of teams.

They could easily make a package for Drummond trading something like Ball, Hayes and Moore and still have enough pieces to make another package with Favors, NAW and picks or something and make a push for the playoffs with Williamson returning. They are only 4 games back and the team currently in 4th is Memphis who are actually trying to win. Just seems like a waste to not use those expiring contracts and turning them into some value just so you can continue to sit out Williamson and try your best to continue losing.

First off, being 4 games back and in 9th place might result in being buyers. But being 4 games back and in 14th is different. You don’t have to just out play 1 team, but you have to outplay 6 teams. Making it even more difficult, those teams include the likes of Portland and San Antonio.

I would say they should stay the status quo or be sellers. I like keeping Redick and Holiday. Moore and Favors could be sold as they aren’t that high level and can easily be replaced (like Hayes getting more time than Favors). Also, don’t like the idea of them trading for Drummond in general. I don’t like his fit next to Zion. I feel like having a guy who is more mobile and can spread the floor would be more ideal.

I’m with you here. They have more than enough young talent that needs to play. I’d be trying to add DeRozan. They shoot a very high number of threes so they don’t necessarily need a long range threat, but they do need a scoring wing. Ball, Holiday, Reddick, Ingram, Williamson, Favors, Hayes, Melli, NAW, Moore – that’s already ten guys and you still get Jackson or Okafor who can drop 20 when given minutes. They have enough young guys. They need to package a few guys to pick up a veteran upgrade because it will free up minutes for the young blood to play.

I think they hold fire and continue to build via the draft or target a good complimentary FA this summer. The LA package is fitting in fairly well, Hayes is seeing useful minutes but we won’t really know how the team looks until we see Zion playing as he is the X-Factor on this team and the potential superstar. They will need to see who fits in around him and an identified young core and build from there.

Im not necessarily against the idea of them being buyers at the deadline. However, I absolutely hate the idea of them going after Drummond and I don’t like the idea of them going after a ball dominant player like derozan much better.
