    Watched an interesting video on coach Spo and his explanation of a true max guy.. jimmy Butler.. someone who contributes greatly to winning opposed to empty stats as THE guy on a team. Both Kyrie and Westbrook are obviously really good players, but neither have proven to be a winner as the main guy. Who is more of an empty stat player who isn;t a true max by spo’s logic.. Kyrie or Westbrook? Health plays a part for sure.

    Probably Kyrie. Westbrook has shown that he can at least win in the regular season and show some leadership while Kyrie hasnt been able to do that, and he has been surrounded by LeBron, or Hayward and Tatum.

    I agree Kyrie, although this should be named the Carmelo Anthony Award.

      Maybe Melo later in his career. But he won games in Denver and the early part of his time in NY. Yes, he was still about getting his and Chauncey talked about that. But he won games and he was able to carry his team for stretches. Something Kyrie has never done.

        Carmelo couldn’t get past the first round until Chauncey came to Denver. Mr Big Shot was a finals MVP and had loads of playoff experience…

    I don’t think it is fair to Westbrook to put him in the same boat as Kyrie. Westbrook has stolen more than a few uncontested rebounds from his teammates, and in past years stayed on the court packing on numbers at the end of big wins or losses more so than necessary. His volume shooting in the absence of really any sign of progress at being a shooter is a problem, but there are enough positives to him that a well constructed roster could still work because he is incredibly athletic and a great competitor. It just hasn’t. Kyrie checked out on Boston. He is constantly moody and complaining, and it impacts the team negatively. For all the numbers, if you make life miserable for everyone around you, then a nice stat line isn’t all that valuable. Irving is more skilled than Westbrook, but I don’t think Westbrook would undermine a team like Kyrie.

    Do I dare to even bring up Devin Booker ?

    Great stats but now, even in his 5th season will not reach the playoffs
