The Kings declined to pick up Harry Giles’ fourth-year option.

Giles hasn’t been able to stay healthy in his brief NBA career. There were numerous red flags when he was drafted, too, so it makes sense for Sacramento to avoid giving him guaranteed money if they don’t have to.

————- has only played 58 games in 2 seasons. Hasn’t played this season yet

Charlotte need to take a chance here. They are thin at every position and Giles is young enough to fit in. They are stuck financially and have no decent tradeable assets.

I was shocked he was even drafted in the 1st round. #20 overall.

Here are some forwards/cemters drafted behind him.

Jarrett Allen, Kuzma, Jordan Bell, Thomas Bryant.

    I think he’s done.

I agree, Sac took a huge gamble on him, could of selected him in the 2nd round..He’s going to be that old man in the G-League.

A lot will depend on whether he plays much this season but if he’s got an expiring deal and a team needs some front court power they can do a trade dump with Sac-Town for some sort of hugely protected 2nd rounder etc.

No point in trading for him now. He’ll be an UFA no matter what this offseason. Would love for the Sixers to sign him to a two-way deal then.

For all of you who are saying he’s done, how many of you said the same thing after Embiid missed all of his 2nd season? (Also still think Fultz is going to prove you all wrong)

Giles is only 21, he’s well worth the risk of a two-way contract or event a vet minimum deal.

I’ll be honest I was harder than most on Giles after his freshman season at Duke. I thought the Kings were crazy for picking him mid 1st. But he balled out last year and for the Kings to bail on the Harry Giles project either shows that something happened behind the scenes that makes them believe he is not worth investing in, maybe he wasnt cooperative or coachable. Or. The Kings are just shortsighted because why even draft him in the first place knowing damn well he would be a longterm project and then you dont even pickup his 4th year option. Ridiculous.
