4yrs/$64M fully guaranteed to stay with the Spurs.
With the $ most starting PG’s are getting, this is a great deal. He’s one of, if not the best defender at the position. His growth will be the key to the Spurs playoff success going forward.
This is just a hunch, but I feel like this is going to look like a really good deal in a few years. Murray hasn’t shown much yet on offense, but he’s arguably already one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. The tools are there offensively (his shot already looks much-improved) and the spurs have a great track record of developing perimeter players. Hopefully, he’s fully healthy and won’t have any problems going forward.
Murray is 6’5” w/ freak athleticism & crazy length. He’s not a 3pt shooter b/c he can penetrate off the dribble & he is a lock down perimeter Defender & he’ll each year he’ll get better at quarterbacking Pop’s offense & Muuray is great in transition
San Antonio is putting together an incredible stable of big, athletic guards in a League where Wings & big guards are at a premium & now the Spurs have 3 – really Young strong big guards who can play at both ends
The Spurs foundations are always built around defence and workrate so this is a good deal for both sides.
