St. John’s depleted front court got a boost on Monday when Keith Thomas from Westchester Community College committed to the school. The declaration for the Red Storm was on Thomas’ Facebook page and he also communicated his decision with a text message to coach Steve Lavin, sources said, and on Twitter.

Thomas averaged 15.3 points and 15.7 rebounds this past season at WCC. He chose the Johnnies over South Florida, Loyola (Ill.) and Fordham. He was being recruited by Miami but his visit to the campus got cancelled.

Thomas is from Westchester County and played high school basketball at Yorktown High. He missed all of his first season at Westchester CC with a broken hand and could have three years of eligibility left.

Thomas and Chris the King’s Adonis DelaRosa, a 6-11 senior, are the significant additions to the Johnnies front line thus far.
