With SEC Player of the Year Bobby Portis moving on to the NBA, Arkansas had a noticeable hole to fill in its front court. One of the players expected to chip in was four-star power forward Ted Kapita, who played alongside Indiana signee Thomas Bryant at Huntington Prep in West Virginia and was labeled as an impact addition for Mike Anderson.

However, that may not be happening this upcoming season. Wednesday it was tweeted by Spire Academy in Ohio that Kapita will be attending the school in 2015-16, another piece of bad news for a program that had three players arrested on forgery charges.

The issue stems from whether or not Kapita will qualify academically. According to a report from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, a final ruling has not yet been made and there’s still a possibility he could end up enrolling at Arkansas after the first semester.

No Kapita in the fold leaves the Razorbacks quite thin in the front court, with Moses Kingsley being their most experienced returnee. Trey Thompson is back for his sophomore season, with Willy Kouassi joining the program as a graduate student after playing at Kennesaw State. Kouassi gives Arkansas a shot-blocking presence at 6-foot-10, but the lack of bodies is something the Razorbacks will have to navigate in 2015-16.

Colorado transfer Dustin Thomas will have to sit out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer rules.
