Marques Bolden wore TCU shirt to announcement picking Duke over Kentucky. Why?

When Marques Bolden officially picked Duke over Kentucky, he ended months of speculation and hope by fan bases all over the country. Yet he added one final layer of intrigue shortly before making his decision official: When Bolden arrived at DeSoto High School for his announcement, he wasn’t wearing gear from Duke or Kentucky. He was representing TCU.

That’s Bolden in his TCU shirt shortly before his announcement on Thursday. He publicly eliminated TCU from his final options weeks earlier, and never gave indications that he was the type of prospect to use one fan base to tweak another for idle enjoyment.

Obviously, the shirt didn’t mean anything in the end, as far as Bolden’s future is concerned. Perhaps he was just trying to show his support for a local program one last time before officially turning his back and walking forward into his own future.
