Romeo Weems, Robby Carmody among visitors for Michigan basketball this weekend

ANN ARBOR -- With its 2017 class nearly filled, Michigan basketball is welcoming a host of young visitors this weekend.

Four players will be on-hand for a football weekend that brings Penn State to town: 2018 shooting guard Robby Carmody, 2018 shooting guard Eric Hunter, 2019 point guard Mark "Rocket" Watts and 2019 wing Romeo Weems.

Watts and Weems are a pair of in-state sophomores with high ceilings. While Weems is more well known nationally -- ranked as the No. 21 player in the 2019 class, per Rivals -- both are receiving high-major attention, including from Michigan.

In August, Weems told MLive that he carried interest from U-M, Michigan State, Oakland, Ohio State and Xavier, and scholarship offers from Oakland and Detroit Mercy. The 6-foot-6 prospect took an unofficial visit to U-M in early August and to Michigan State on Sept. 2.

As a freshman at New Haven High School, Weems averaged 16.1 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals per game.

Weems' visit to U-M was confirmed to MLive by New Haven head coach Tedaro France.

According to France, Weems will also visit Ohio State on Nov. 5 and hopes to visit Iowa and Creighton in October. Additionally, U-M, Iowa and Ohio State are scheduled to check in on Weems during an open gym workout at New Haven next Wednesday.

Weems currently holds offers from Oakland, Detroit Mercy and Creighton.

Watts, a 6-foot-1 guard, meanwhile, visited Michigan State two weeks ago and has interest from Xavier, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and TCU. He also holds scholarship offers from Oakland and Detroit Mercy.

Watts now attends Old Redford Academy in Detroit and was a member of the AP Class C boys basketball All-State team as a freshman while at Allen Academy.

Detroit Old Redford coach Craig Covington Jr. confirmed Watts' weekend visit to U-M.

Carmody told MLiva via text message that he'll be visiting Ann Arbor this weekend.

At 6-foot-4, Carmody is ranked as the No. 60 player in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He

Carmody landed a U-M scholarship offer in early August, telling MLive at the time: "(Michigan is) definitely a school that I could see myself playing at. I think they fit my style pretty well -- lots of slashing and coming off ballscreens."

This past week, Carmody was seen by a number of high-major coaches visiting Mars (Pa.) High School. John Beilein was among a group including Arizona's Sean Miller, Stanford's Jerod Haase and Penn State's Pat Chambers. Carmody visited Notre Dame last weekend.

A consensus four-star recruit, Carmody holds scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Xavier, Purdue, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Notre Dame and Stanford, among others.

Hunter, meanwhile, was scheduled for a visit to Indiana on Friday and to Michigan on Saturday, according to Indianapolis Tindley School head coach Bob Wonnell.

Hunter, who was reportedly visited by Michigan State assistant Dane Fife on Tuesday, is one of the top 2018 players in Indiana. He recently picked up a scholarship offer from Purdue, and also holds offers from Butler and Xavier.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Hunter has drawn a steady stream of visitors for open gym workouts at Tindley in recent weeks, including U-M assistant Jeff Meyer.

Scout.com rates Hunter as a four-star prospect and ranks him No. 86 nationally among 2018 recruits.

This story will be updated if any further visitors are confirmed.
