VJ King discusses transfer to Paul VI, participating at LeBron James Skills Academy (video)

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Just days before VJ King heads to Colorado for Team USA U17 tryouts, he spoke about his busy and eventful summer. Making the most news was King's decision last week to transfer from St. Vincent-St. Mary to Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.).

King didn't want to address the reasons he left and instead spent most of his time thanking St. Vincent-St. Mary and Northeast Ohio.

"I appreciate everything that St. V has done for me, and what Northeast Ohio, that area has provided for me the last two years," King said.

King said it would be fun to play in the atmosphere at Paul VI. The prep school plays with a shot clock and plays a national schedule, which should simulate the college lifestyle a little more for King.

Earlier this month, King was at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas. James was there for the week leading up to his decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"We were there, but it was obviously more focused on him because he left a couple days early," King said. "But sometimes, we would be out there playing in scrimmages and he would jump in."

Aside from the camp in Las Vegas, King spent much of the summer focusing on being bigger and stronger.

"I'm lifting at least three to four times a week, working on my ballhandling and sharpening my skills," King said. "That's mainly what I've been working on this summer."

If King makes Team USA, he will head to the World Championships in Dubai in August. Last year, King and Team USA won a gold medal at the Americas Championship in Uruguay.
